Statewide Lockers Product Cleaning & Maintenance.

Powder Coat:
The following information is taken directly from the Dulux Care and Maintenance of Powder Coat document. It is important that maintenance be done on a regular basis. Dirt, grime and airborne salt deposits from the atmosphere are often capable of causing damage to the coating surface and must be regularly removed. It is recommended that cleaning be done routinely at a three monthly interval, six months should be considered the maximum interval. Particular attention should be paid to the cleaning interval in marine or other corrosive environments and in areas prone to atmospheric fallout.

In the cleaning process, the following should be noted:
a) Cleaning should be done with a dilute solution of a mild liquid detergent in warm water. Avoid excessively hot solutions.
b) Use a soft bristle brush or similar to clean the surface. Do not use abrasive tools on the coating.
c) After cleaning, rinse the film thoroughly with fresh water.
d) Do not use strong solvent type cleaners on the coating. Where it is necessary to remove materials from the surface such as adhesives and a solvent is necessary, the weakest possible solvent should be used. The only solvents recommended are methylated spirits, white spirits or Isopropanol. Ensure the contact time for the solvent is minimal, and that the solvent is thoroughly rinsed from the surface. A small test area should be checked prior to solvent cleaning to ensure that no damage to the film or colour change will occur.
e) Where more aggressive cleaning is required, a very mild abrasive such as a high quality automotive cream polish, used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, may be necessary. The use of strongly abrasive compounds such as cutting compounds is not recommended
f) The use of bore water for cleaning is not recommended due to its mineral content, as it can bring about staining of the coating and may instigate long term coating failure.

Drawer Runners:
It is important that any drawer runners are cleaned and lubricated to minimise wear and tear, and ensure ongoing smooth operation.
a) Check tracks quarterly (every 3 months) for any dust or debris. Vacuuming the runners will remove dust. Foreign objects such as small bits of paper, paperclips or staples can often lodge themselves in the track and cause undue strain. These must be removed if identified.
b) Runners should be lubricated with a spray lubricant (such as WD 40) approximately every 6 to 12 months, or if the drawers become difficult to use [and no foreign object is present].

Door Tracks:
Tambour door tracks need to be cleaned and lubricated on a consistent, ongoing basis to ensure ongoing smooth operation.
a) Tracks should be assessed for any dust or debris. Vacuuming the tracks will remove dust.
b) Tracks can be lubricated with a spray lubricant (such as WD 40) when required.

Polypropylene (Tambours and Mobile Caddies Doors):
The Statewide polypropylene tambour doors are extremely durable, and should perform faultlessly with minimal intervention on your part. Simply wiping the doors to remove dust, using a dilute solution of mild liquid detergent in warm water will keep them clean and functioning. 

Locks:
Different locks will have different care instructions, namely electronic, pin code and coin release lock systems. Any manufacturer instructions will take priority over any documentation provided by Statewide.
a) At any time a lock feels like it is sticking or the key does not rotate correctly, spray a small quantity of a lubricant such as WD 40 into the barrel or on the key.
b) Insert and remove the key a few times to push the lubricant into the barrel and attempt to turn the lock again. 

• Dust regularly.
• Wipe minor spills with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap; dry immediately.
• Avoid excessive water, abrasive cleaners, acids, or alkalis.
• For stubborn stains, use a reputable commercial cleaner.

• Protect from direct sunlight. Vacuum regularly with low suction. Rotate reversible cushions.
• Treat spills immediately: gently blot, do not scrub, and use recommended cleaning agents. Avoid saturating fabric.
• Professional cleaning is recommended. Use only upholstery detergents; avoid dishwashing or laundry products. Dry in shade and ensure fabric is fully dry before reuse.

• Use only dry-erase markers. Permanent ink can sometimes be removed by writing over it with a dry-erase pen.
• Keep erasers clean and replace often. Clean boards regularly.
• For stubborn marks, use isopropyl alcohol with a soft cloth, then rinse with warm water and buff dry.
• Avoid mineral turpentine, petrol, kerosene, or methylated spirits.
• Do not leave writing on boards for long periods. Environmental factors (AC, fluorescent lights, skin oils) can affect erasability.

• Plastic backs, seat shells, and bases can be cleaned using a mild, warm soapy water solution.
• Upholstered surfaces should be vacuumed regularly.
• Avoid wetting metal components, upholstery, or mechanical parts.
• For stains or deeper cleaning, refer to the relevant fabric care instructions.

• Inspect castors regularly for hair, thread, or debris wrapped around the spindle, as this can restrict movement.
• Clean as required to ensure the chair moves freely.
• Check castors every six months for wear or damage and replace if necessary.

• Inspect screws and bolts periodically to ensure they remain tight and secure.
• Loose fixings can affect stability and should be tightened as soon as noticed.

• Test height adjustment and tilt functions regularly to ensure smooth operation and reduce the chance of squeaking.
